When it comes to hardcoat stucco installation, there is no shortcut. It is Portland cement, sand, and lime, troweled on in layers over a lath base. Done right, it lasts for decades and shrugs off the Jersey Shore weather. CMB Jersey Shore Stucco and EIFS Repair & Installation has installed hard coat stucco across New Jersey since 1985.
Hard coat stucco is also called traditional cement stucco. It is a three coat system. First comes the lath, a metal mesh fixed to the wall. Then a scratch coat, a brown coat, and a finish coat go on one at a time. Each layer has to cure before the next. The result is a hard, solid shell that bonds to the structure and holds up for 50 years or more.
We do not rush a hard coat job. Here is how it goes.
First, we prep the surface and check the framing. Then we add a weather resistant barrier so no water gets trapped behind the wall. Next comes the lath. After that, the scratch coat goes on and gets scored so the next layer grips. The brown coat builds out the thickness and gets floated flat. Last is the finish coat, where we set the texture and color you picked.
Every coat has to cure on its own schedule. Skipping that is how cracks start. We give each layer the time it needs. For the full range of finishes, see our stucco installation overview.
Hard coat stucco is a strong pick for new builds and full re-clads. If you are putting up a new home or business, or stripping an old exterior down to the studs, hard coat gives you a finish that lasts. It stands up to fire. It holds its shape. It needs little upkeep. And it takes custom textures and colors well.
If your wall already has hard coat stucco and just needs fixing, that is a different job. Our stucco repair crew handles cracks and patches. And if you want the classic cement look and feel, our traditional cement stucco page goes deeper on the material itself.
We install hard coat stucco on homes and on commercial buildings. Single family houses, multi family units, warehouses, storefronts. CMB has done all of it across Monmouth County, Ocean County, and the wider Tri-State area since 1985. Our commercial stucco page covers larger jobs. We also serve shore towns like Long Branch and the inland Monmouth County area.
The Jersey Shore is tough on exteriors. Salt air, wind, and big swings in temperature all wear on a wall. Hardcoat stucco handles it well. The thick cement shell does not flex much, so it does not crack the way thinner finishes can. It also holds paint and sealant well, which keeps water out. For coastal and inland homes alike, a solid hardcoat stucco installation is a long term answer, not a quick fix. With a yearly check and small repairs as needed, the finish can hold up for 50 years or more.
How long does a hard coat stucco install take?
It depends on the size of the wall and the weather. Each coat needs time to cure, so a full install runs longer than a synthetic finish. Cold or wet weather can stretch the schedule, since the coats need dry time. We give you a clear timeline before we start.
Do you install hard coat stucco on commercial buildings?
Yes. We install hard coat on homes and commercial properties across NJ and NY. We work with contractors and architects on larger projects.
Is hard coat stucco better than EIFS?
Neither is better for every job. Hard coat is heavier and very durable. EIFS adds insulation and weighs less. We help you pick based on your building and budget. See our EIFS page to compare.

Jersey Shore Stucco is amazing! I can not speak more highly of them. I’ve worked with other stucco repair companies in the past and it has been difficult at best. I desperately needed some maintenance done on a stucco wall surrounding our hose and decided to try these guys out. Wow! We could not be happier. High quality at an affordable price!

We purchased an older home and knew it was in need of stucco repair. During the first few months, we had a bunch of stucco contractors out to look at the job but none were sure we would end up with a result we were pleased without spending thousands! Jersey Shore Stucco was able to offer a very competitive price and started on the work right away. They matched the exterior paint to the rest of the house and a year later, you still can’t tell where the damage was! We would definitely recommend them, and plan to use them going forward for any stucco needs.

Jersey Shore Stucco was able to help with
repairs caused by a recent tropical storm. They came and inspected the damage and made me feel very comfortable that they could get the job done right. The craftsmanship was beautiful. It’s a perfect match and you can’t even tell where the damage was before.
